Handmade Monday 117

Today is our 2nd wedding anniversary, where does the time go? In keeping with tradition we have given each other presents to do with cotton, the present for the 2nd year of marriage. To go with my present I made my hubby a card using cotton fabric and thread, with a cotton reel outlined using free motion embroidery.

With the Manchester Creative craft show done and dusted I had this weekend free for some sewing. What’s more it was sewing that I had planned for me, a very rare occasion at the moment! With the sun appearing last weekend we got the deck chairs out, however it reminded me I wanted to make some cushions to hang off them to make them just a bit more comfy. I decided on an envelope cushion with a free motion embroidered beach hut design with ties which I could use to attach to the deck chair.

This week has been a bit of a mixed one, with lots of sewing and baking of all sorts of different things. My first job was to make a custom order cover for an iPad Mini. With free reign of choice of material, and knowing a little about the recipient, I chose a retro feeling typewriter print Read the rest of this entry

My crafting seems to be a bit thin on the ground at the moment. What with a to do list as long as my arm and the prospect of starting a new job (all be it only for 2 days a week), my motivation seems to have been overcome by tiredness this week. So please forgive me for the small nature of my project for this weeks handmade Monday! Read the rest of this entry

This weeks handmade Monday post consists of a make a little bit different from the usual things you’re used to seeing! I have mentioned in the past about my husband competing in a cycle event called cyclocross and he is part of a cycling club in cheshire along with 2 others who also compete. Being the good wife that I am I go along to every race to cheer him on and give him support. We have even booked a holiday to Vermont, based around dates for a race that he is going to enter! So when contemplating my next few projects, I decided what better way to show my support than to make a banner/flag with the clubs logo and name on!

For those of you who follow me on twitter and Facebook, you may have noticed a recent plethora of handmade cards on my feeds. I have developed maybe a slightly unhealthy obsession with making cards using free motion embroidery! I think I like doing them because they’re so quick to do and you can have so many different dseigns, plus it uses up all those scraps of fabric I have managed acquire!

I missed the last Handmade Monday post due to an episode of dizziness. I was recently diagnosed with something called Migraine Associated Vertigo. As a result I am trailing different mediation and I am on a strict diet (including no alcohol or chocolate!!) to try and control my symptoms. It was so frustrating to wake up last Sunday with the world spinning. I had planned on finishing my mystery project so I could share it with you, so I had to keep you guessing another week instead!

This weeks handmade Monday post consists of a custom order. I was asked to make a bag to replace one that had worn out from carrying one too many library books. My brief was to make it more or less the same design and size as the old one. I gave the customer some ideas of some funky fabrics and we decided on a very apt fabric showing shelves of books in a girly pink.

This is my first handmade Monday post of 2013 so Happy new year! I got lots of fabric and craft books for Christmas, so I have been itching to get creative! I did however have a custom order to do first this week – a snap frame phone case, similar to my coin purses, just slightly bigger Read the rest of this entry
