I have been absent for the last few weeks for Handmade Monday due to holidays and redecoration/revamp of my kitchen, so I really haven’t had time to do any crafting. However after my last craft fair, I got 3 custom orders which I had to make by this weekend, so with a few days off and kitchen jobs done I finally was able to get my sewing machine out!

On the 15th day of Christmas…
Kids club progress
Today was the last session of kids club before half term, the last 4 weeks have flown by! It has been great seeing them learn and get excited about the different crafts. We introduced them to the sewing machines and also how to felt and make a little bag.
They had to draw their initial of their name then sew as close to the line as they could, just using the needle to punch holes in the piece of paper.
They also made some felt and then hand sewed it together to make their bag. I thought the sewing machines with the needles were bad enough, but a classroom of 20 kids all with needles in their hands topped it today! and then my nightmare came, helping them sew buttons onto their bags – I hate sewing on buttons!!!
It really has been a learning curve for me and have certainly realised a lot of things:-
When one child needs the toilet, they all need to go!
Kids aren’t deaf and don’t need to be shouted at (I spend a lot of my day with elderly people!)
You have to learn how to multitask as they all want to speak to you at the same time!
You have to be strict with them and you have to tell them no occasionally (again very difficult for me as I am so used to encouraging people all the time in my day job, but sometimes it’s not appropriate all of the time with kids!)
My hysterical shriek breeds hysteria in the kids (note to self dont shriek and flap arms in the presence of kids!)
So there we are, I have survived the last 4 weeks! I have next thursday off which of course I am using by learning a new craft – knitting!! so very excited about finally learning how to click clack!! However looking forward to getting back to kids club as we will soon be doing Christmas stuff!!

B-ewe-tiful
A few weeks ago I posted about a competition that Penny at Planet Penny was running. Well the draw was done and….I won!! I never win anything so was so happy that I had won such a great prize! I came home today to my lovely parcel of goodies from Penny

and couldnt wait to open them! Inside 2 lovely handmade cards by Penny, a gorgeous book by Julie Arkell and a Tiny felt sheep
I think I might give the sheep to my mum for Christmas as I know she would adore her, but I think it will be hard to say goodbye to her and might just have to buy another one from Penny’s Folksy site! But I do think she needs a name….suggestions please?

Miss Marple
Just wanted to write a quick post to share with you a link to a fab blog called Planet Penny. Penny makes fabulous felted things and at the moment is looking to name her recent creation a gorgeous little sheep. She is running a giveaway and alls you have to do is leave a comment with your choice of name for the little sheep – why don’t you take a look!

Spinning a yarn
A couple of days ago I posted about some great wreaths that I had seen and felt I should give making one of them a go! I made a trip to Hobby Craft, purchased a styrofoam ring, some brightly coloured striped yarn and some matching felt and set to work! Here’s how I got on..
Half way through wrapping the yarn around the ring, all going well till I got in a bit of a tangle and had to get my husband to rescue me!

I then moved on to making the felt flowers – some better than others but improved with practice!
The finished wreath. I just need to get some matching ribbon to hang it from!
I loved making this and have already thought of lots more ideas for future projects! Why don’t you give making one a go?
